Back from bangkok

I AM BACK! Ha, actually i dun feel like coming back cos bangkok is really a shopping paradise! I think i can go there every year! The things there are really dirt cheap if you know where to shop and how to bargain. I am angry with myself for not doing enough research before the trip and end up we went to shop at the more ex places first! So, for the benefit of those who will be visiting bangkok for the first time, below are my super valuable advice:

1. Dun stay in first house hotel (unless you are really very $ tight cos its super cheap) bcos there are cockroaches in the room, the pillow is super hard, there is no hair dryer and flask in the room. There is a smell of decay in the room. The only good thing is its location. Its located right in Pratunam and near to Platinum Mall. There's a super nice hotel - Amari Watergate located right next to Platinum Mall but its super ex. I think more affordable hotels there are samran place and baiyoke boutique.

2. GO straight to Pratunam market to shop first! I am so angry that i only shop there on the last day cos we stay there. Things there are the cheapest, you dun even have to bargain bcos its super cheap. I bought 2 dresses there at 100 baht each. I thought i heard wrongly when the person say 100 baht! I only believe it when i give the person 200 baht and the person nvr ask me for more money. Its like less than S$5 for each dress! And the cardigan costs 55 baht each if u buy more than 3 and 80 baht if you only buy one. I am so angry cos i bought the same cardigan at Platinum mall at 150 baht. End up i bought 2 more cardigans at the market while jj bought 1. So each cardgian only cost S$2.50? CHEAP LIKE HELL CAN? Nice shorts costs only 100 baht each, nice bags costs 199 or 250 baht, tops costs 150 baht if you buy only 1 and 100 baht if you buy 3.

3. The second place to shop is Platinum Mall. Its a wholesale place so things are only cheaper if you buy three pieces and above. Its a very big mall, we didnt manage to walk thru all the floors. But i think the only floors worth walking is the first and the 5th level. On the first floor, there are plenty of nice dresses and tops. The 5th level there are alot of accessories and bags. Bags here are abit more ex than Pratunam market but they are more trendy. The MUST buy thing here is bras! Nice designs at only 100 baht! I bought only 2, should have bought more, ha. After shopping, can go to their foodcourt at level 6 for food. Their mango sticky rice and crepe is nice!

4. Next up is the shopping centre next to the victory monument station. I forget whats the name of that shopping centre. Nice shoes at only 199 baht and nice shorts at only 100 baht can be found here! I bought a super big leather bag at only 220 baht here! There is a super long bridge leading from the train station and walk along that bridge to get to the shopping centre.

5. The next place i would recommend is the bugis like shopping centre linking from MBK center. Get out from the exit next to Watsons of the MBK center on the second floor. I think its called city complex or what. There are nice t-shirts and tops there but i feel the price is abit steep. But the quality of the t-shirts are certainly better than the ones u find in Pratunam market or Chatuchak.

6. Suan Luan Night bazzar. The night market starts at around 6 and its a place for lots of imitation products. The advice is to go there real early so that you can be their first customer. One of the vendor quote us 1200 baht for the Tiff & Co bracelet. I was thinking siao, so ex. That person ask us what price are we willing to pay. JJ said 450 baht. But i tried to walk away and that person say he would sell it to us at 400 baht. Ha, end up we bought one each. They have the belief that they must close the deal with the first customer if not they would be unlucky for the rest of the day. Must go for massage there, it only cost 250 baht for 1 hr! The "zi char" at the food area there is nice too!

7. MBK center - i think dun really have to waste time shopping there cos things here are ex unless you want to buy backpacks. They sell backpacks at only 199 baht on the first floor. They have plenty of winter wear too so can consider if u want to buy winter wear. The only thing i like here is Dairy Queen and Bobbin Basket ice cream, yummy!

8. Chatuchak weekend market - i dun like to shop here even thou i bought a super nice dress here. Shops here sell quite similar stuff and alot sell ornaments. So boring, i think my dad would love this place. We only use 1 day to finish walking the whole market. I wonder why some people can take 2 days. Shorts here are cheap but the quality is bad so dun buy here. But i think here will be a good shopping place for guys cos lots of addidas jackets, shoes and jerseys.

9. Baiyoke sky tower hotel - there is baiyoke garment center located there, full of clothes also, dun remember whether we bought anything there. BUT, we paid 200 baht each to get to the top of the hotel -83th floor to view the night scene of bangkok. For that price, we were each given a free drink. We ordered long island tea. I really enjoyed it man. Seating in the pub, listening to the live band, drinking my alcohol, chatting with jj and looking at the night scene outside. This is life man! Oh by the way, dun try their chicken satay, it taste horrible.

I hope to go back to bangkok soon!
